Václav Havel, an Unplanned Stop at Ruzyně Prison
Prague, March 17, 1990
On his way to the airport—where he was to depart by helicopter for a meeting with Solidarity leader Lech Wałęsa—Václav Havel made an unplanned visit to Ruzyně Prison, where he himself had been held in pre-trial detention just a year earlier.
The photograph was taken moments before the gate opened, after the president knocked on it. The subsequent reaction of the prison service was directly proportional to their surprise at this impromptu visit…
As the author of a photographic work, I always strive—beyond the visual experience—to deliver the highest possible technical quality at a top gallery level. My photographs are printed on archival papers by the German company Hahnemühle or the French company Canson, meeting the most demanding standards for longevity and quality. All materials are archival and pH-neutral.
Technique used: Giclée / pigment printing, Epson Ultrachrome HDR — the most widely used technology preferred by artists, galleries, collectors, and art institutions. Unframed.
If you are interested in the photograph, please contact me to arrange a meeting at my studio, where I can provide additional information and present various mounting and size options.
Archiving and handling note: When displaying photographs, it is recommended to follow standard fine-art handling practices—i.e., the photograph (like a painting or print) should not be exposed to direct sunlight, humidity, high temperatures, or chemically aggressive environments, etc.
Photographs are intended for personal use only, for display in private homes or other private spaces. Any other use—such as display in public spaces, institutions, galleries, online publication, or reproduction in print/media—requires the author’s written consent.
